The KCYM Vijapuram Diocese, under the leadership of the Diocesan Committee, successfully concluded the Vijapuram Premier League softball cricket tournament. The event was held at the Kanjirappally Kunnumbhagam G.H. School Ground and the AKJM School Ground, bringing together spirited participants and spectators.

The tournament was inaugurated by the Chief Whip of the Kerala Legislative Assembly, Shri N. Jayaraj MLA, adding prestige to the occasion. Ajith Alphonse, the Diocesan President, presided over the inaugural meeting, where Ward Member Shri Antony Martin extended his greetings, and the Diocesan Director, Fr. John Viani, delivered an inspiring introductory speech. The event was graciously hosted by the KCYM Mundakayam Zone.

A total of 16 teams from 8 Zones of the Vijapuram Diocese participated in the tournament. After a series of competitive matches, the Vandiperiyar Unit team emerged as the champions, while the Suryanelli-Chinnakanal Unit team secured the runner-up position. The Suryanelli Unit’s Ravikumar Shaktiraj was recognized as both the best player and best batter of the tournament, while Allen John Sabu from the Pattithanam Unit was named the best bowler.

The event saw the presence and support of various key leaders, including KCYM State Secretary Subin K. Sunny, Diocesan General Secretary Jose Sebastian, Diocesan Treasurer Alen Joseph, and Secretaries Anu Vincent and Renish Sebastian. Committee members such as Justin Rajan, Dhanya Mohanraj, Sandra Sunny, and Zonal representatives like Mundakayam Zonal President Prince Abraham and Secretary Shilpa Sabu also contributed to the event’s success. The support of Fr. Saji Poovathukadtil, Youth Council members Manu Mathew, Ebin Joseph, Angel Sunny, and Messin T. Thampi, along with Diocesan Associate Director Fr. Fernandez and Forane Vicar Rev. Fr. Tom Jose and Fr. Britto Villukulam, added to the vibrant atmosphere.

The Vijapuram Premier League was a celebration of sportsmanship, teamwork, and community spirit, reflecting the vibrant energy of the youth and their commitment to unity through sports.
